Herbalist Training Course

Learn the basics of Herbalism with Cheri Neal. Students will learn the medicinal uses and applications for an array of plants that grow abundantly in Northern California. They will learn the ethics of wildcrafting, traditional methods of preparation, medicine making, storage, and formulation.
This course can be taken in full or spilt up into modules.

Week 1 (April 8): Nervines/ Tincture Making
In this module, students will explore nervines and anxiolytics, herbs that help to calm the nervous system. Students will also learn how to make medicinal tinctures, or extracts made with alcohol and vegetable glycerine.
Week 2 (May 6): First-Aid Plants/ Medicinal Oils and Salves
In this module, students will explore first-aid plants, and wound tending. They will learn how to make medicinal oils and salve.
Week 3 (June 17): Lung Support/ Tea and Smoke Blend
In this module, students will explore herbs that support the lungs and respiratory system. They will learn how to work with dried herbs to make tea a tea blend and/or a smoke blend, as well as other methods of herbal preparation, such as smudge, steam, and inhalation.
Week 4 (July 1): Digestive Herbs/ Vinegar Extracts and Oxymels
In this module, students will explore herbs associated with healthy digestion, as well as learn how to make Fire Cider and other Oxymels.
